Last Place Tribe Continues Struggles Against UNC-W

The Tribe could not overcome poor free throw shooting and being out rebounded on Wednesday night and dropped their sixth straight game, this time losing 54-49 to UNC-Wilmington.

The Tribe seemed stagnant in the first half and seemed flustered by UNC-Wilmington’s tight defense, which led to eight Tribe turnovers in the first half.

Neither team had a player stand out significantly above the rest. The Tribe were led in scoring by Nathan Man, who had 10 points. Ed Spencer had a game high of 11 points coming off the bench for the Seahawks.

The Tribe got into something of a rhythm in the second half as they briefly took the lead, but it did not last. The Tribe missed crucial free throws and were outworked on the defensive boards, which allowed UNC-Wilmington to prolong possessions late in the game.

The loss sunk the Tribe deeper into their slump. They are now 4-11 for the season and are winless in six CAA games. They now sit alone in last place of the CAA. The Seahawks moved up to 2nd in the CAA, improving their record to 5-1 in the CAA.

The Tribe will again attempt to break out of their slump on Saturday night against VCU. The game will be played at 7 p.m. at William and Mary Hall.
