A Red Carpet Prom: Dancing for a Cause

Jan. 19, 2005 | By Rachel Vorona, DSJ Staff Reporter

Do you ever want to revisit your high school years? No? Me neither.

However, if you were forced to relive one event, prom night might not be so traumatic, particularly if you could support a great cause while grooving to a smooth beat. Various Asian student organizations on campus have made this possible.

On 5 February, at 9:30 p.m. head upstairs to the UC Chesapeake in all your finery (or not, there is no dress code) to enjoy "A Red Carpet Prom." This festivity will feature music from DJ Foot and contests with the thematic flair of teeny bopper prom movies. While the admission is free, donations will be accepted in order to aide the tsunami disaster relief efforts in South and Southeast Asia.

In view of recent events across the globe, this is an excellent opportunity to not only enjoy a bit of nostalgia, but to do so in a charitable manner. So hop in your limo (or on your orange bike), and seize your chance to be a star, if only for one night.
