Swimming and Diving Falls to East Carolina University

The College’s Swimming and Diving team resumed their season on Saturday against East Carolina University. Unfortunately, the Tribe women and men dropped the matches by scores of 121-80 and 126-108 respectively. This loss drops the women's team to to 4-3 overall, while the Tribe men drop to 2-5.

Three of the women swimmers for the College won their events including Carrie Gerloff, Marnie Rognlien, and Meredith David. Gerloff won the 3-meter dive with a score of 243.90. Displaying their skills in the swimming, Rognlien won the 100 free at 53.98 seconds while David won the 100 back in 1:00.42 seconds. Not to be underestimated, Kelly Reitz won 2nd place in the 100 breast. Reitz, David, Rognlien and Bryanne Matthews combined their effort in the 400 medley relay and produced a 2nd place finish.

Two of the men swimmers were also successful in their events. Eric Druker claimed 1st place in the 100 fly with a time of 51.96 seconds. Alex Jendzejec also won his 500 free with a time of 4:57.45 seconds, while receiving runner-up honors in the 400 IM. Jeff Clark also claimed 2nd place in the 100 Breast. Nick Duda produced results in two of his events achieving runner-up places in 100 and 200 free-style. Jesse Moore, Jake Albright, Duda and Jendzejec combined to win 2nd in the 400 free relay.

The College’s Swimming and Diving team continue to practice to prepare themselves for the upcoming meet against the College of Charleston on 21 January.
