Sometimes, during exams or otherwise, the students who seem the most relaxed are the ones who are already ready for bed. These sleep-walking fashion statements are at ease in pajamas, slippers and sometimes even blankets.
Once classes end, fashion tends to take a turn toward the casual. This is most noticed in the masses of students spotted wearing pajamas. The numbers surpass the typical weekend brunch few who roll out of bed with food as the first priority. On reading days, even normally well-dressed students can be found in more casual clothing since they do not have anywhere they have to be.
As you may have noticed, the stress associated with exams leads students to make themselves as comfortable as possible for testing, wearing pj’s to the exams and curling up with their pencil and blue book. Just make sure that when you succumb to the temptation of sporting those flannel pants that you have enough willpower to keep yourself awake for the exam itself.
The casual trend includes sleepwear, sweat pants, and that raggedy sweatshirt. Hairstyles also tend toward lower maintenance "do's" like ponytails for girls and bed head for the guys. Other students just stick with their favorite worn-in pair of jeans and lucky t-shirt.
On the subject of lucky pieces of clothing, some people have their “lucky” items like boxers, socks, or old periodic table t-shirts. However, when you take a chemistry exam, you may have to settle with just wearing that lucky shirt for studying. Also, please remember that there will be neighbors alongside you during exams so if you were an offender this year, please wash those “lucky” items by the end of the second straight week of exams this Spring.
With the scheduling of study sessions, coffee runs, and mental breakdowns, students simply do not have time to focus on fashion. To reduce all the stress of exam weeks, wearing comfortable clothes just makes sense. It removes a preoccuptation from your overwhelmed mind - who really needs to match, after all? In fact, matching skills should be more committed to test questions than clothing. When you go home to gatherings and parties, your mind can once again take style into consideration.
