Women’s Golf Takes 11th at Nittany Lion Invitational

Oct. 12, 2004 | By Grant Martin, DSJ Staff Reporter

The William and Mary Women’s Golf team finished 11th in the 15-team field at this weekend’s Nittany Lion Invitational in State College, Pennsylvania. Freshman Misha Harvey led the Tribe with a three-round total of 241, good for 42nd in the field of competitors. Harvey edged out her teammate Emily Dupuy by two strokes, who fired steady rounds of 79, 83, and 81 to finish 45th. Rounding out the Tribe’s top five were Sayde Murray, Erika Oldenkamp, and Alex Hill, who finished 53rd, 63rd, and 69th, respectively.

The Tribe had to contend against not only a field of stiff competition but unfortunate weather conditions as well. Lightning delayed the tournament’s second round, and the soggy conditions at the Penn State Blue Course were reflected in the team’s unusually high scores. UC-Irvine won the event with a cumulative score of 33 over par.

The Tribe next tees it up at the Great Smokie Intercollegiate in Waynesville, North Carolina, on October 18-19.
